A cedar fence can last 15-20 years, while a pine fence might last 10-15 if cared for properly. Pine is more likely to warp and need repairs. Pine is not as beautiful as cedar, but both can be stained to alter finishing color.

If you choose pine, you will have more maintenance as the go by, but pine is an acceptable choice for your fencing needs. Make sure to check out our section on taking care of your fence so that you are fully educated before choosing a type of wood.
